Please join me on Friday, September 7th at a legal seminar presented by the Real Property Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA). I will be part of a panel titled “Ethics and Best Practices in Real Estate Transactions and Litigation: Protect Your Bar Card and Your Practice.” The full conference runs from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, includes a light breakfast and lunch, will be held in the SDCBA’s downstairs conference room at 401 West A Street in downtown San Diego, and is worth 4.0 General Credits and 1.5 Legal Ethics credits. A networking happy hour follows the event across the street at the Hotel Republic rooftop bar.
As the real estate market of the 21st century is ever changing and heavily impacted by the general business cycles and the trends in the economy, staying abreast of the common legal issues that can arise in real estate transactions and litigation is becoming increasingly challenging. The first annual Real Property Law conference offers expert panelists providing an update on the state of the economy and its impact on the real estate market, discuss how bankruptcy impacts real estate transactions, including the treatment of liens, property exemptions and fraudulent transfers, learn the basics of partition actions, the do’s and don’ts of unlawful detainers, as well as the ethics and best practices of real estate litigation. The all-star lineup includes Hon. Eddie Sturgeon, Hon. Gary Kreep, Gary London, as well as local law school professors and seasoned real estate practitioners. This conference is designed for lawyers across all experience levels who advise clients in any area of real property, as well as real estate agents, brokers and appraisers.
